Understanding the Equipment

What Is a Spray Foam Rig

A spray foam rig is a mobile polyurethane processing system. It is not simply equipment placed in a trailer. A properly designed rig heats, pressurizes, and chemically reacts two liquid components at the spray gun — manufacturing polyurethane foam insulation at the jobsite.

Because the chemical reaction occurs at the jobsite, the contractor operating the equipment effectively becomes the manufacturer of the finished insulation system. The quality of the foam being installed depends directly on the ability of the equipment to maintain stable temperatures, consistent pressure, and proper chemical ratio throughout the spray process.

This is why rig design matters. Every component in the system — from the generator to the hose to the gun — affects what happens at the tip. These rigs are engineered as complete processing systems, not assembled collections of parts.
